We have been having some discussions on highlighting members each month in the upcoming newsletter and via a special link that will appear at the top navigation called “Highlights”.
The discussions have been wonderful and so many have shared their thoughts, both for and against the idea.
First, I feel it is very important to note that this is “Not” being done to promote a popularity or swimsuit competition…lol This is giving the community an opportunity to share with us the members (groups, podcasters, artists, musicians, advertisers, blog contributors, discussion contributors etc etc.) who have stood out in a positive or helpful way to them.
I have created a submission page for those who would like to send their information on those they would like to see highlighted. This highlight will be done monthly, so don't worry if you find someone after you've submitted information, there's always next month and we have plenty of members!
To save time you can enter information on more than one member, group etc. but please do not enter multiple names for the same category. You can even enter info for all categories if you choose, please note that each member can complete only one highlighted member survey. Please make sure you have inputted all the information you wish for the category or categories you choose because the program will not allow multiple submissions from the same person..
Currently the member submission area is set up with the following highlight types:
• Advertiser or Sponsor
• Artist, Author or Musician
• Blogs (Helpful or Entertaining etc.)
• Discussion Contributor.
• Group
• Helpful or Welcoming (Friendly)
• Podcaster or Media
• Profile Page Design
There is also a blank space to specify if any above do not fit the submission type.
The Direct Link to the submission page is here (opens a new page).
Since, I have received some mixed feedback on the idea of poll voting for members submitted; I thought what better idea than to set up a poll (lol) to get the overall community input on this concept. The poll will be listed today in the right hand column and will appear on all pages. One vote per person and yes, it tracks…lol I’ll update in this discussion as soon as the poll goes up.
I would also like to mention that the same person or group can only be highlighted once every six months. This will keep things fair and also allow for many to be involved in the monthly highlight. If a person or group is submitted but they do not get the highlight spot for the month, they can be resubmitted for the next month. The polls (if we proceed with member votes) will be closed for stat viewing, this is done in an effort to not create any discomfort if someone listed does not receive a high number of votes from the community. Polls will also be tracked, one member, one vote. The software tracks cookies and IP addresses.
The Newsletter is another new addition to PaganSpace.net that will begin in mid-August (tentatively). I am currently working on a submission page for members to submit any content that they would like to contribute for possible inclusion in the monthly newsletter. Contributions can include, but are not limited to Articles, Recipes, Art, Humor, Quotes, Poetry, Book Reviews, and Website Reviews etc. etc. Please note that any articles submitted must be the work of the contributor and not copied from an outside source (footnotes are fine just not copy/paste articles). I feel the submissions will be a way to open the newsletter up for some great community involvement. Therefore, to sum it up, we want you all to be involved in this website and the additions we make!
With all this said, we will need a newsletter staff to help with the information received from members, someone with some editing ability (typos and spelling checker) would be a plus! We will need someone who can do a monthly article detailing the highlighted member(s) information. Further, we will need someone who can write about PaganSpace.net News, the news does not have to be about the site itself, it can be about happenings around the site. We will also need someone who can do an article on Pagan Events, which will spotlight some information on the upcoming events listed in the events area. So, what this boils down to > we need people who can write fun and entertaining articles for the newsletter. If you are interested in writing for the newsletter, I will be placing a form up so you can let us know of your interest!
Okay, I believe I bored you enough for one morning and I need more coffee…lol I can’t wait to hear your input!
Big Hugs!
