I haven't been here for awhile so I guess I should update some things. First, I passed my class and my state exam. I'm offically an EMT. Yea!! That's the good news. The other is that the day after I graduated, I found out I have stage two B cervical cancer. I'll be starting low dose chemo, and radiation treatment next thursday. It will last for 60 days. We got back to class on tuesday night, after a much needed spring break. We've started working on Trauma assessments with our skills instructers. We were also called in one by one to get our current grades. I got 91.3% (B) on the written mid term, passed all skills tests, got 95% (A) on the CPR/AED test, and 94% on our projects. Over all I've got 93.7% ,which is a B,( I'm 4/10 of a point from an A), and I get to take the Pediatric Education for Prehospitial Professionals class. It's an advanced… Continue

We had our mid terms on tuesday night. I think everything went well. I was most stressed about the skills portion of the test, because we never seemed to have enough time in class for everyone to play with the stuff. The first time I had ever put a combitube in one of the cpr maniquins was that day, before class. I guess I should post an update on how my class is going. So, here it is. We're at the end of week 5, and things are progressing nicely. We've begun the skills (hands on) portion of our training. It's pretty challenging. For most of us, we've only seen these things done, we've never done them ourselves. So far we've learned how to get vitals, how to ensure patient ( clear, and open) airways in apneic (non- breathing) and dypneic ( having difficulty), patients.
