The rune Dagaz transliterates in Old Norse to mean “day” or “dawn”.
Similarly, drawing this rune invokes the characteristics of the dawn:
This is a time where growth is possible through photosynthesis.
In relation to us and our spirits, this is a time of growth through personal transformation with the use of our wills.
The shape of the rune denotes balance, continuity, and… Continue

okie dokie so never really gotten into blogging before but I'm willing to give it a little try. All I can say that right now has been really freaking weird. I'm seeing people who never fight arguing, friends making drastic changes in their lives, and just over-all some bad mojo flying around. I'm just wondering what the cause of all this has been. Maybe it's just me getting used to the "real world" again since I've spent the last few years being sick and unable to go out and mingle with the… Continue

She braided her red hair with what she bought
And when she was done a weapon was wrought
With care she drew upon herself the ancient signs
The swirls and spirals in deep blue lines
Her bodice and kilt of leather with steel adorned
She girded tightly about her form
And from her belt by its braided lace
Hung her choice of weapon, her deadly mace
Now through the woods in the deepening night
She made… Continue

My good friend whom I lived with for several years in North Carolina recently entered the following poem in a poetry contest and won a $500 prize for it:
Green Corn and Sky
In rural Minnesota,
there was little on the horizon,
except in summertie
when Green Corn was there,
360 degrees around;
so much corn you could hear
it growing, out loud.
You could hear its growing pains,
groaning under… Continue

My older son received his first pendulum today. It's beautiful. He picked it up in the shop today and it pulsed in his hand. It was only $5, so I bought it for him. He's enjoying it.
My little guy connected very strongly with a polished emerald, without knowing what kind of stone it was. I got that for him as well. He's had it in his hand most of the day, feeling its energy. :-)
Lately, every time I start getting out of my funk and laughing, I fall right back into it. The… Continue

Finally got the ok to move to Iowa from Colorado. Been here just over a week now and LOVING it. Just waiting now to here back from job prospects. Had a blast so far. Glad to be here in Iowa because I am closer to all my family and relatives. Looking forward to attending any pagan events around this area.

I lived with my grandma the first three years of my life. My mom was sick, she has lupus. When I finally did live with her and my father, my mother physically abused me almost every day. She'd slap me for spilling something, or sometimes, I didn't do anything at all. All I had to do was be in her line of sight and she'd beat me. She often hit me with a hairbrush, her weapon of choice. I think she blamed me for her lupus because it wasn't until I was born that they found out about her lupus. If… Continue

I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful Lammas/Lughnasadh. This Sunday I'm going to a ritual, with the group I usually get together with . There is going to be food and a raffle. I'm so excited. Since I've been laid off, I've been doing chores around the house and sometimes helping my parents cook. I'm thankful to have understanding parents. They know I'm a Pagan and what I believe in. I was planning to invite them to a ritual one day. Maybe during Samhain.

Walking the Red Road July 31
You ask me to plow the ground. Shall
I take a knife and tear my mother's
bosom? Then when I die she will not
take me to her bosom to rest. You ask
me to dig for stones! Shall I dig under
her skin for bones? Then when I die
I cannot enter her body to be born
again. You ask me to cut grass and
make hay and sell it and be rich like
white men, but how dare I cut my
mother's hair. I want my people to

I have found the most awesome of houses... On 40 acres! It is totally weird and quirky, lots of nooks and crannies, NOTHING typical about it. It's just.. weird! Like me! It's *my* house. 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, old farm house, has a bit of a haunted feel about it, that would be cool. Out buildings, even an enclosed hot tub room for parties! Most of the carpet is turquiose, but each room has a different color and is painted different. LOTS of closets and storage and LAND, privacy, room to roam.… Continue

It's been a bit since I blogged. I've been on the phone everyday with lenders and banks. So tired of the house thing already. I've also been dealing with some dizzyness and vertigo. My bunnies are doing well. I'm doing a rescue mission and taking in a few more right now the number is 2 more but it may end up being 4 as someone else has come up with some bunnies to give away. I am really gonna need that propery now with the barn to put 7 buns in. I started playing a new video game recently( I… Continue

Well we have finally set a date, Oct. 30th, 2010. I am now trying to plan everything since it has changed somewhat from our original plans. The original plan was to just get married privately and have a celebration later on with friends. But his mom insisted that she be there, and then she insisted that we invite so-and-so...to sum it up, we are having a wedding ceremony. SO as a result I have to figure out what to do, where to have it, etc. I believe I have found a place that will work, The… Continue

August Eve, Lammas Eve, The Eve of Lughnasadh.
In pre-Christian times, the Oidhche Lugnasa was celebrated by the Celts on this night in honor of their solar deity named Lugh. His annual sacrifice at the end of the harvest ensured the fertility ofthe corn and grain for the next growing season.
An old August Eve tradition in rural Scotland is predicting the following year's marriages and deaths by throwing sickles into the air and then drawing omens from the position in… Continue

I noticed it a few days back. I wasnt sure what it was. But i notice it in everything i look at. Its like a hazy glow. The world seems to be more vibrant. Now that i have moved across town basically, i have a 10 minute walk through the woods everyday. I pass by a beautiful pond teeming with life. A nearby stream rushes by telling me life is wonderful and everything connects in its own special way. Although there is a small paved path that goes to the bigger lake in spring valley they planted… Continue

The sun was low in the sky as we gathered around the fire circle. Many of us were strangers but we came together in the woods to celebrate Mabon as a community. The circle was already laid out and lit with large candles glowing in the dim light of sunset. Each quarter had its own altar.… Continue
