my familiar Helios sadly passed on shortly after I moved into my own place in april. I was devasted and although my friends and family kept plying me with different animals my heart wasn't in it.
Until I saw a post for a 10 week old black kitten. Something told me to call and see if they still had it. They did. There was a fair distance between us and I cant travel so after seeing several photographs of the kitten, I agreed to let them bring him to me. What arrived was not what I…Continue
My occult investigations show that the reptilian extraterrestrials who many New Age teachers say are the preeminent enemy of mankind do not exist. I was not surprised to discover that the New Age movement has once again transformed archetypes of the collective unconscious mind into “extraterrestrials” with an existence independent of humanity. There are probably thousands of planets in the Milky Way Galaxy that are hosts to life, and many of them may have…Continue
This week here on The Spiral Dance, let's look skyward and see what's up there.
Every season brings different views of the Heavens, and Autumn is no different. And, the Stars of Autumn bring their own stories and myths. So to start this week, I have a poem written back in 1819 by the English Romantic poet, John Keats. In his poem, "To Autumn" he captures the feeling and spirit of this season.
Then we'll talk a bit about Astronomy itself, and one view of how…Continue
The first Eros, the son of Chaos, was primeval Desire. The second Eros was the son of Aphrodite.
The first and second Eros in Greek mythology signify two kinds of love that are important in transpersonal psychology. The progression from the first to the second Eros is a progression from an undeveloped state, a state that still shares the nature of its parent Chaos, to a cultured state in which…Continue

When I think of autumn I know it's time. It's time to say goodbye to summer and all the good and bad that goes with it.
I try to visualize all the bad things that happened over the summer leaving to make room for better things and memories. I also in way feel older as if time is passing me by and I have nothing to show.

Today at 3:02 CST is when the sun will be in Libra and Autumn/Mabon will have officially started. Mabon is a time of harvest, thanksgiving, and when day/night is equal which can mean to bring your shadows into the light.
Tonight I am going to attend my first online Mabon ritual celebration (normally I just do one by myself) and we will be be addressing our shadow side by looking at a problem we have, thanking for the lesson, and then resolving it.
No matter how you celebrate…Continue

Once upon a time .. I was working at a casino on the Midwest, which is kind of like working in at an out door swimming pool in Alaska....I saw a woman walking through the casino moaning like a regretful spirit at the consequences of her life and gambling…Continue

I found the picture of Minerva that appears on the left of the art piece below in November or December of 2016 and saved it because I liked her slightly sad, sensitive face. About a month ago I found a better reproduction of the picture along with a companion photo, which appears on the left. The person who posted the picture on the internet said that he could not discover where the statue was located. Obviously Europe, I thought---but I didn't know where either.…Continue

ARGHHHHH!!!! Again, in his reductionist and revisionist zeal–in his polemic Pagan Britain, which is just as bad as his formerly flawed polemic, The Pagan Religions of the Ancient British Isles–Prof. Hutton shows his fatally flawed weaknesses in trusting the disciplines of a…Continue
I was having a pretty bad day today. I know i was being lazy and i needed to get busy as free time just didn't feel quite earned. I was having racing thoughts in my head and I just couldn't sit still I felt like i needed to something anything to keep my mind occupied. I decided to meditate for a quick 10 minutes and try and get my head straight and then I got the idea of going for a nice nature walk through a near by ravine the thought slowly began to fade as i meditated and i had the…Continue

Erotic Hindu goddesses comes in several varieties. The tantric types like Bhairavi are wrathful and Kali-like. The equivalent in the west is the Filia Diaboli or Devil's Daughter who is both angry and sexual. She is the quintessential teenage girl who has discovered that she is hot and does exactly what her parents don't want her to do, which includes smoking, drinking, and nights in motel rooms. With the same spirit of rebellion a man who practices the left-hand…Continue

The Red Tara or Kurukulla presents the curious instance of a being who is---from the point of view of Christianity---earthy, sensual, erotic, and therefore demonic---and yet at the same time spiritual because of her Bodhisattva vow. In the Bodhisattva vow the Arhat or Buddhist saint promises: “I will not enter Nirvana until I have brought all sentient beings unto enlightenment”. In actual practice the Bodhisattva limits her activity of salvation to humanity, for as…Continue

Hello, everyone. My name is Dove Pearlthorne and I am a new member on this site. If you read my profile, you will see that I am studying Tameran Wicca, which is Wicca that follows the ancient Egyptian pantheon. I am also looking at Kemeticism as a craft/religion, which is why I listed Kemetic Wicca as well. Forgive me if that is offensive somehow because that is truly not my intention.
Anyway, I am a baby witch, even though I discovered Wicca a few years ago. It never really…Continue

1. Baal or Ba’al. The name Baal means Master, and is not in itself a term for evil. In fact, the founder of Hasidic Judaism was called Baal Shem Tov, “Master of the Good Name”. His actual name was Yisrael ben Eliezer. The Baal of the Canaanites was the consort of Ashtarat or Astarte (the Hellenistic name), a love and fertility goddess. Her symbol was a cow (like Hathor in Egypt) and his was a bull. After the Hebrew tribes conquered Canaan their god YHVH, originally…Continue
