Feast of Het-Hert (Hathor) and Sekhmet; Day of prolonging life and the goodness of Ma'at

13 day of Tybi 5109 ( 28th November 2009)

Feast of Het-Hert (Hathor) and Sekhmet; Day of prolonging life and the goodness of Ma'at

It was a great day as the followers of these three great Goddesses of the kemetic faith marked their feast day here at the mother temple.

Pharaoh Barry & his procession made their way from temple house to the gates of the mother temple. Where the were greeted by the High Priestesses of the three Goddesses who had been waiting at… Continue

Aradia, Gospel of the Witches, Retold

I've finally sent the manuscript off to the publisher. And I've ordered a proof copy. Now I have to wait for it to arrive, so I can be certain everything is lined up the way I intended it to be, and double-check it for errata. Then I can approve the copy and it will become universally available. I've been working on this one project more or less constantly (with time off to complete other projects that nagged to be done first) for about 7 years. So it's really liberating to have it out of my… Continue

Marriage Proposal. Yours to pluck apart.

This is from the poetic Edda. Skirnir, Lord Freys servant, threatens Gerdr, the reluctant bride to Lord Frey.

18. SKIRNER: I am not of the elves, nor of Asa-sons,

Nor yet am I one of wise Vaner;

Yet came I alone over oak-lighted fires

To see your hall.

19. Eleven golden apples I have

To give, Gerd, to you,

To buy your peace and that you

Be not indifferent to Frey.

20. GERD: Eleven apples I will not take

To have a…

Though my husband was not home for "Thanksgiving", I am thankful for such a wonderful man. He works hard to support his family, even when he has to miss holidays, so that we can have our needs met. He worries and frets, which is something we are all doing, in this economy. I am now finding out that even at Yule, I may not have him home. This is not something I am happy about, but I am thankful that he worries enough to know when not to stop his truck, so that his family is taken care of. We are… Continue

A Thankful Thanksgiving

This was my 48th Thanksgiving and it was the best one thus far. Why? Because I am the oldest survivor of my family line. All past traditions are up for review for I have moved to the head of the line when determining holiday tradition. I decided to let go of old ways and incorporate new ones, and so, my daughter was in charge of this holiday dinner .. her first but I hope not her last she is an excellent cook!... we spent the day with each other talking, laughing, and me and the dog being… Continue

...'s nearly 2:00 a.m. and I don't feel like going to bed. Oh I'm sleepy...but I don't want to sleep. How can I sleep when Mom is gone? And yet she's here. I've sensed her so strongly of late. She'd say, "Son, you need your sleep. Go to bed." And she'd be right. But I feel so...beyond distraught right now. I truly trust the advice given about how this will become more bearable over time. And my husband has reminded me of what a luxury I have in all the time and opportunity to really fully… Continue

Holidays and Families

by Claudia McNeely, CCHt

copyright November 28, 2009

Are you one of those who has survived another horrid holiday with your family? Do you dread holidays because it means you have to spend time with people that you choose not to spend time with any other day of the year? If so, WHY??

Too many of us feel that we ‘have to’ spend holidays with our families. That we ‘ought to’. That we ’should’. They are family, after all.

There was a time that I felt this… Continue

the death of my computer and other random musings.

I lost a loyal friend, my computer. To chocolate milk of all things. My son was was walking, and tripped spilling milk all over the keyboard. We tried to dry it off but its been acting funny ever since. I want to cry. I spent thanksgiving at moms, with a stomach flu. I ruined the holiday for my hubby who had to go and get maalox. by the time he got back , dinner was done and they were putting it away. I waited and ate when he got there. i felt like i was dying. and then today i got up at 3:00… Continue

I can only think of silence...

I can only think of silence

to give to those who will not listen,

to offer those who will not respond.

I can only think of apathy

to the plights of those who have built walls

and refuse all efforts of influence.

I can only think of leaving behind

those who will not put the efforts

into attempting to understand.

I played on my pipe a happy song

and do you think anyone stopped

what they were doing to take time to… Continue

History Repeats

Weighted down my the drama in the night,

With the stars in the sky burning so bright,

Have you never heard a wolf cry,

Gives you goose bumps that go deep to the bone,

Just when you though you where alone,

Owned by the breeze,

Hate is the disease,

That destroys a family,

Bleed into days when freedom wasn't given away,

Tell me then, will it happen again.

afraid of what they may say,

Makes some turn away,

Holding… Continue

She's Free

She sites in the night,

The dark air holding her tight,

Candle light orange yellow light,

Reflects the beauty in her mind,

She sits in the moon site,

Where she closes her eyes,

Feeling the energy & warmth of life,

She's free & full of love & life,

She's free of the demons inside,

She's free of the evil inside,

Greatful she found this path,

greatful it brought a better her back,

She blesses them… Continue

Walking the Red Road November27

The Great Spirit knows that I have spoken the truth.

A Native to Know

Hiawatha helped to organize five separate Iroquoian tribes into one confederacy known as the Five Nations. His courageous work is legendary, and to some, has even reached mythological proportions. Hiawatha is known today as an intelligent, innovative leader who succeeded in uniting nations that otherwise… Continue

Christmas in the Sand

I had no Christmas spirit when I breathed a weary sigh,

and looked across the table where the bills were piled too high.

The laundry wasn’t finished and the car I had to fix,

My stocks were down another point, the Cowboys lost by six.

And so with only minutes till my son got home from school

I gave up on the drudgery and grabbed a wooden stool.

The burdens that I carried were about all I could take,

and so I flipped the TV on to catch a little… Continue
